MATERIALS

Superior Quality Materials

Magnum 2000 Inc. sources a diverse array of bar stock in round, rectangular, and unique shapes from certified mills across North America and Europe. These mills are known for their superior quality carbon and alloy steel, aluminum, stainless steels, as well as copper and brass products.

To ensure the highest standards of quality, all materials undergo rigorous non-destructive testing methods, such as:

  • Ultrasonic testing: This method uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws or characterizations.
  • Eddy current testing: A technique that employs electromagnetic induction to identify surface and sub-surface defects.
  • Roto-bar testing: A specialized process for examining the integrity and consistency of bar stock.

These meticulous testing procedures guarantee that only the best materials are used in the production of precision machined parts.

Stainless Steels

Magnum 2000 Inc. purchases stainless-steel varieties, such as 304L, 303, and 2205, among other premium grades. These are procured from industry-leading mills like Valbruna, Olarra, Marcegaglia, and Ugitech, renowned for their exceptional quality designed for high volume, precision machining.

Carbon & Alloy Steel

Magnum 2000 Inc. has a strong preference for Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) carbon steels, made from virgin raw materials, and frequently imports this high-grade BOF material from Europe through our material vendors.  This premium material is integral to the production of rounds and shapes designated for safety-critical components, including those found in transmission systems and braking mechanisms.

Aluminum

Magnum 2000 Inc. sources its aluminum from top-tier mills in North America, renowned for producing automotive-grade aluminum. This aluminum is engineered with a specific chemical composition that is ideal for high-volume machining. Each batch is rigorously tested using x-ray testing to ensure the highest quality. The aluminum is primarily used in the manufacture of components for thermal cooling systems and automotive HVAC applications, where its properties are critical for efficient performance.

Copper and Brass

Copper:

One of their key areas of expertise is the use of copper in high voltage electrical connectors for electric vehicle (EV) systems. Copper is an ideal material for high voltage connectors due to its excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and durability. These properties ensure efficient power transfer and heat dissipation, which are crucial for the performance and safety of EV systems.

Brass:

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, is highly valued in the automotive industry for its excellent machinability, corrosion resistance, and durability. Brass is sourced for specialized mills throughout North America and can be drawn into complex net shapes to reduce the amount of machining.
